Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving the following crimes:
Thieves are stealing motorized scooters.
Sometime in the overnight hours of Monday October 15th, an unknown suspect or suspects stole a motorized scooter from a residence in the 4100 block of Craig Rd. The scooter was parked in the driveway between the house and a vehicle pulled up tight to block access to the scooter. The scooter was also secured with a chain and lock on the front tire. The unknown suspect or suspects cut the chain and stole the scooter.
The stolen scooter is described as a light tan or off white coloured 2005 Yamaha 49 cc Scooter with BC licence plate S 99860. The scooter has a large exhaust pipe and a lowered back end. A photo of a similar looking scooter can be found on the Alberni Valley Crime Stoppers webpage.
On Saturday October 20th at approx. 2:00 am, police observed a man riding a yellow 2008 Yamaha Moped northbound on the side walk of Stamp Ave from Redford St. When police activated their emergency lights, the man pushed the scooter into the ditch and ran north on the railroad tracks and disappeared into the forested trails. The scooter was recovered and found to have been stolen from a residence in the 3700 block of 7th Ave.
The suspect is described as small in stature, wearing a dark hoody and dark pants.
