Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving the following crime:
On Wednesday January 29th at approximately 4:35 am, the This N That store located at 3017 – 3rd Ave was broken into.
A masked suspect walked up from the vacant lot beside Steampunks Café and used a large tool to gain entry through the front door. The suspect required several strikes to the front door over a few minutes to smash the small opening in the glass and knock down the security bars. The suspect entered the store later followed by the second masked suspect. The suspects stole a sizable amount of collectable paper money and collector coins from a display case, including a large copper coin stamped with the image of the head of an Indigenous man.
A nearby resident heard the glass break and called police. CCTV video indicates there were other suspects outside under umbrellas. The suspects fled the scene running northbound down 3rd Ave and back into the vacant lot. A possible witness was driving a white or light coloured 4 door GMC Denali pickup truck having turned left off Argyle St and was southbound on 3rd Ave when the two masked suspects ran from the store.
Both suspects have thin to average builds, were wearing hooded jackets and carrying black backpacks. One suspect wore a ballcap and sunglasses while the other was in shorts over leggings.
Police are interested in speaking to any witnesses or anyone with video footage from security or dash cameras between 4:25 am and 4:45 am January 29. Anyone with information about the location of the stolen items is also asked to contact police.
