Did you remove all valuables and secure your vehicle? Thieves remain active throughout areas of Port Alberni.
In the early morning hours of Sunday February 17th, thieves targeted vehicles in the upper Burde St area. At approximately 5:45 am, two suspects were observed on security cameras walking in the area of Waterfern Dr and Swornfern. The cameras captured the suspects as they were attempting to gain access to unlocked vehicles. The suspects did gain access to an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway on Waterfern Dr stealing a purse and miscellaneous items. The purse and some of its contents were later recovered scattered about on the Log Train Trail off of Burde St. Unfortunately, all valuables and identification were not recovered.
A second unlocked vehicle in the 3500 block of Carriere Rd was also entered overnight and likely in the same time frame and some valuables taken.
Anyone who may have observed anyone walking around or acting suspiciously around this time is asked to contact the Port Alberni RCMP. The public are reminded to ensure that no items regardless of value are left in vehicles and that the vehicle is properly locked and secured.
