File #2019-12939

Date of Crime

- December 31, 2019

Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving the following crime:

People are stealing purses, wallets and identification from vehicles, unattended personal items and from shopping carts. Thieves then use the credit cards for unauthorized purchases and in some cases, the identification owners then become victim’s of identity theft.
Police want to remind everyone to keep an eye and a tight grip on your identification and credit cards. And don’t carry all your identification with you. Items such as SIN cards, birth certificates and passports are not needed on a regular basis so leave them secured at home or in your safety deposit box. This is especially true as we enter the busy holiday shopping season. Police have received reports of purses stolen from shopping carts. While in the store or when loading groceries or Christmas shopping into your vehicle, be sure to secure your purse or wallet first or keep it in your hands.
Don’t leave your purse or wallet unattended, not even for a moment. And never leave your wallet in your vehicle. Keep it close at hand and be mindful of pick pockets and suspicious people hanging around. You never know when somebody is watching and waiting for you to take your eyes off it as they rush in, grab it and run off.
