In the early morning hours of Thursday March 2nd, two suspects stole a green Dodge Grand Caravan then broke in to two Port Alberni liquor stores.
Cameras at a liquor store in the 2900 block of Alberni Highway caught the minivan drive into their lot and drive around to the back of the store. Two men exited and approached the side and rear doors of the store with large rocks. The suspects caused approximately $250 in damages.
At approximately 1 AM, the duo broke into a liquor store in the 5000 block of Johnston Rd. They smashed the front doors of the liquor store to gain entry. Once inside, the suspects stole 5 Texas mickeys as well as some other liquor before fleeing, leaving a trail of broken glass which lead south on Victoria Quay. The alarm system activated scaring off the thieves before they were able to steal more product.
The stolen minivan was located abandoned in the alley between 4th and 5th Ave near Argyle St., with some of the stolen liquor located inside.
The suspects were both wearing winter coats, gloves and face coverings. One man was about 6 foot tall and overweight while the other man was between 5’ to 5’4” and slender.
